The Eagles’ attempt to interview Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams was blocked by their NFC East rivals, who cited it as a lateral move.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that the Eagles submitted a request to speak to Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, but the Cowboys said no, citing it would be a lateral move.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys hired Eagles defensive backs coach and defensive passing game coordinator Christian Parker last week to become their new defensive coordinator. Parker was allowed to interview because it was a promotion.

Adams, 42, joined the Cowboys after head coach Brian Schottenheimer was hired before the 2025 season. He has a prior connection to Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni. When Sirianni was the offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, Adams worked as the team’s assistant offensive line coach for two seasons before Sirianni took the job with the Eagles.

The Cowboys offense ranked second in the NFL in total offense this season, averaging 391.9 yards per game. The Cowboys were ranked second in passing (266.3 yards per game) and ninth in rushing (125.6 yards per game).

The Eagles have been searching for a replacement for former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, who was fired after the team finished 24th in total offense (311.2 yards per game), 23rd in passing offense (194.3 yards per game) and 18th in rushing offense (116.9 yards per game). The offense’s inconsistency appeared several times this season, including in the Eagles’ wild-card round loss to the San Francisco 49ers that ended their season earlier than anticipated.
