Another offseason, more disrespect for Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix.
Last year, Nix not getting much respect from national media members wasn’t too surprising. He was the sixth quarterback taken in the 2024 NFL draft, and many pundits expected him to struggle as a rookie.
Nix did struggle initially, but he flipped a switch in Week 3, and he went on to earn a Pro Bowl invite as an alternate after surpassing 4,200 yards and scoring 34 touchdowns in his first season in the NFL. Despite that impressive rookie campaign, Nix is still ranked among the bottom half of NFL quarterbacks on ProFootballFocus.com.
PFF’s John Kosko released his 2025 quarterback rankings earlier this week, and he has Nix ranked 19th out of 32 QBs.
“Nix had a strong rookie season, though it was somewhat overshadowed by Jayden Daniels’ historic campaign,” Kosko wrote on PFF. “If he can avoid the dreaded sophomore slump, the Broncos could be a serious threat in 2025. After a rocky start, including three sub-50.0 game grades in his first four outings, Nix found his footing, posting an 85.7 overall grade the rest of the way, sixth-best in the league over that span.”
That commentary does not seem to match the QB’s ranking.
QBs listed above Nix include Tua Tagovailoa, Trevor Lawrence, C.J. Stroud and Geno Smith. (If it’s any consolation to fans in Denver, Nix is ranked higher than Russell Wilson, who comes in at No. 27.)
Elsewhere in the AFC West, PFF has Patrick Mahomes ranked No. 1 and Justin Herbert ranked No. 8 (the previously mentioned Smith is ranked No. 10, which feels a bit high).
Nix proved a lot of doubters wrong last season. It looks like he’ll have to do so again in 2025.
