NASHVILLE — Former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel has the New England Patriots representing the AFC in this year’s Super Bowl. Whether New England wins it or not, Tennessee controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk looks more foolish than ever before for firing Vrabel two years ago.
It is absolutely critical Adams Strunk learns from her mistake.

Titans failures stem from ownership

Bad NFL organizations stay that way for a reason.
What has happened to the Titans is directly correlated with Adams Strunk’s inability to do what Patriots owner Robert Kraft has made look routine: managing difficult personalities. Kraft did it for two decades with coach Bill Belichick. Maybe the two New England legends don’t send each other Christmas Cards these days, but Kraft’s ability to navigate the relationship with Belichick deftly produced six Super Bowl victories and one of the greatest dynasties in the history of sports.

Adams Strunk could not.
Now, as Tennessee hires its second coach in two years since firing Vrabel, the takeaways are obvious. Defer to the football people you’ve hired to help your team, manage your ego even when it is tested and be self-aware enough to know when you’re wrong. It sounds so simple, but we see organizations fail to achieve these basic goals in every level of businesses across the spectrum.
Vrabel may never have reached the heights in Nashville that it took him only one season to achieve with the Patriots. Unfortunately for the Titans and their fan base, we will never find out.
