Last April, the Baltimore Ravens added 11 draft picks to their roster in the NFL draft, landing Malaki Starks near the end of Round 1 to cap things off. Overall, the consensus on Eric DeCosta centered on draft value and on landing prospects who can develop into starters, regardless of the round in which they were selected.

Fast forward eight months, and Starks developed into a starter and one of the best young safeties in the NFL, while second-round pick Mike Green took several weeks to find his stride. Fourth round pick Teddye Buchanan developed into the prize of the draft, beating out Trenton Simpson to earn the starting weakside linebacker spot.

With the season complete, we’re handing out grades for a top-heavy draft class.

Round 1, No. 27 overall: Malaki Starks: B

Starks, a 2025 first-round pick from Georgia, started 15 of the 17 games he appeared in this season, logging 1,060 defensive snaps (11th), 84 total tackles (49 solo) and four passes defensed, including two interceptions. Starks finished his rookie season with the third-most interceptions and the fourth-most total tackles on the Ravens‘ defense.

Starks may not be Kyle Hamilton, but he was solid, and an improvement in pass coverage (64.9 PFF grade) could take him to a Pro Bowl level.

Round 2, No. 59 Mike Green: C

Green got off to a slow start, but eventually found his footing down the stretch. Overall, Green played 713 snaps, finishing with a 46.3 grade from PFF, 3.5 sacks, 19 pressures, and 14 quarterback hits.

Round 3, No. 91: Emery Jones Jr.: N/A

After missing the bulk of the season with a shoulder injury, Jones Jr. played 48 snaps as a rookie.

Round 4, No. 129 LB Teddye Buchanan: B

Teddye Buchanan’s rookie season ended after the talented linebacker was carted off early in the Ravens’ Week 15 matchup against the Bengals at Paycor Stadium. Buchanan was forced to exit, and the Ravens brass initially feared he suffered a season-ending torn ACL. A rookie fourth-round pick, Buchanan injured his right knee on punt coverage in the first quarter and was carted off to the locker room. He left the stadium using a cane. A rookie starter, Buchanan finished with 91 tackles in the regular season with one forced fumble and one pass defended.

Round 5, No. 141: Carson Vinson: N/A

Round 6, No. 178: Bilhal Kone: N/A

Round 6, No. 186 Kicker Tyler Loop: B

Before the Week 18 miss, Loop was a perfect 29 of 29 from inside 50 yards. Loop finished 30-34 as a rookie.

Round 6, No. 203: LaJohntay Wester: B-

The rookie was used almost exclusively on special teams as Wester finished the season with 246 kick-return yards and 198 punt-return yards, but wasn’t targeted on 58 offensive snaps. Wester firmly established himself as an effective punt returner and finished in the top 20 in punt return yards with 198. How the new offensive coordinator views Wester will determine his role outside of special teams in 2026.
