On Monday, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah put out his first mock draft of the offseason. The 2026 NFL draft is shaping up to be a real mixed bag thanks to a whole group of quarterbacks who grossly underwhelmed this past season and plenty of teams in need.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of those quarterback-needy teams and picking at No. 21 puts them in a tough spot. Alabama’s Ty Simpson is clearly the second-best quarterback in this draft after Fernando Mendoza but his evaluation is mixed and he might not be worth a first-round pick at all.

So in this scenario, Jeremiah passed on Simpson in favor of filling the team’s second-biggest need with Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston.
Boston is a rock-solid pick here and is tough to argue against. The Steelers never found a No. 2 receiver last season and the passing game really suffered. We aren’t sure who the Steelers will have playing quarterback next season but they would be happy to have Boston out in the route.
