The Buffalo Bills officially announced the promotion of Joe Brady from Offensive Coordinator, to the 21st head coach in franchise history. Brady served as Bills’ Offensive Coordinator for the last two seasons, and the 36-year-old rising star is staying in-house to lead the team into a new era.

The move comes exactly one week after the organization parted ways with Sean McDermott, following a 9 year tenure as Bills Head Coach. Buffalo prioritized continuity for MVP quarterback Josh Allen, while moving into a brand-new stadium. The team is also moving from a defensive minded Head Coach, to an offensive focused Head Coach.

ARCHITECT OF THE LSU TIGERS LEGENDARY OFFENSE

Brady rose to national fame as the Passing Game Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach during the historic 2019 LSU Tigers season. His role helped lead Joe Burrow to a historic Heisman season, and the Tigers to an undefeated 15-0 record and a National Championship victory…earning the Broyles Award as the top assistant in college football that year.

Louisiana fans remember the explosive offensive style that shattered records, and redefined college football in Baton Rouge. This hire might bring those high flying concepts back to the forefront of the NFL if Brady runs the Bills the way he ran the Tigers.

FROM THE SAINTS TO BUFFALO MVP SUCCESS

Football fans in Louisiana also know Brady as a former New Orleans Saint. Before hitting Baton Rouge, he was an Offensive Assistant for the New Orleans Saints from 2017 to 2018. Those two seasons under Sean Payton provided the foundation for a career that eventually saw Brady guide Josh Allen to an NFL MVP award in 2024.

Buffalo looks to capitalize on a top five offense, that led the league in rushing yards per game during the 2025 season. With a five year commitment in place, the focus shifts to getting the Bills past the playoff wall and back into Super Bowl contention under the youngest head coach in the league…it is officially time to see if the Brady magic works on the biggest stage.
