It’s official, the Tennessee Titans have hit their target and have their man: Brian Daboll. After much speculation, Daboll has given a verbal commitment and is currently in Nashville finalizing his deal to become the team’s offensive coordinator.

The news broke quickly and came from multiple sources, including Titans’ superfan Jelly Roll, that Daboll had accepted the offer to take over the Titans’ offense and help guide Cam Ward in taking the next step in his development.

Jim Wyatt confirmed it.

Daboll is the second outside hire for Robert Saleh as he pieces together his initial staff in Nashville, joining former Dallas Cowboys defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton, who was named run-game coordinator/defensive line coach yesterday.

Saleh and Daboll will now work to fill out the rest of the offensive staff. With tight ends coach Luke Stocker and running backs coach Randy Jordan in place, the Titans still have to fill some critical roles, including offensive line, quarterbacks, and wide receivers coach.

With one coordinator job filled, Saleh still must zero in on the Titans’ next defensive coordinator, although, since he will be calling the defense, it isn’t quite as pressing a need as it was to find the right fit for offensive coordinator, and Daboll appears to be that guy.Â
