Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were not the only topics of discussion for Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt during a recent TV appearance. The Chiefs CEO and chairman also mentioned head coach Andy Reid specifically as he discussed the team’s vision for the 2026 season.

There has been a lot of disappointment within the organization this season after the Chiefs failed to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Kansas City finished the regular season with a 6-11 record, marking its worst campaign since it went 2-14 during the 2012 season. This is also the first time they missed the playoffs in the Mahomes-Kelce era.

Speaking on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” on Tuesday, Hunt addressed Kelce’s looming retirement decision. Hunt made it abundantly clear that the team would love to welcome Kelce back if he opts to shun retirement again this offseason. “There’s no doubt in my mind that he can still play,” Clark declared.

The Chiefs owner also provided an update on Mahomes’ rehab, confirming that both the two-time MVP and the team are optimistic about Mahomes being ready for the start of the 2026 season.

Hunt spoke about what the future holds for the team as well. He acknowledged the disappointment of the previous campaign. However, Hunt is confident that Reid and his coaching staff are fully capable of bringing this team back to glory.

“We’re excited about the challenge that we have now of getting back,” said Hunt, via Arrowhead Pride. “We still have a great roster. We still have Andy Reid and a really outstanding coaching staff.

“We are going to work very hard in 2026 to make sure that we are part of the playoffs and hopefully part of the Super Bowl.”

Reid has been with the Chiefs since 2013. He has played a pivotal role in the most successful era in franchise history. Under his watch, the Chiefs won three Super Bowl titles in five years.

As Hunt laid out in his statement, the goal is to get that fourth championship in 2026.
