Grant Udinski, Anthony Campanile both returning to Jaguars after head coach interest

  • January 28, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars are keeping the coaching brain trust intact.

The team announced on Tuesday that both offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile would return to Jacksonville in 2026. Udinski and Campanile had both interviewed for multiple NFL head coaching jobs and were rumored to be on the short lists for positions in Buffalo (Udinski) and Arizona (Campanile).

Now, head coach Liam Coen welcomes back two of the NFL’s rising coaching stars to a team that finished 13-4 and won the AFC South.

But the Bills promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady to the head coaching position on Tuesday to take Udinski out of the running for that job. A day earlier, Udinski removed himself from consideration for the Browns head coaching job. ESPN reported that Udinski, 30, had agreed to a pay raise with the Jaguars with the caveat that he could still leave for Buffalo if the Bills offered him the position.

Campanile interviewed with the Ravens and Dolphins prior to his latest interview with the Cardinals. Both Baltimore (Jesse Minter) and Miami (Jeff Hafley) were hired for those positions.

Udinski didn’t call plays for the Jacksonville offense (Coen held that responsibility) but he’s been widely considered a rising star in the coaching ranks. He spent time under Kevin O’Connell in Minnesota before joining Coen’s first staff last season. Coen and Udinski helped boost the Jaguars and quarterback Trevor Lawrence from one of the worst offenses in the league to one of the best. Lawrence is a finalist for NFL MVP honors.

Campanile had major success in remaking the beleaguered Jacksonville defense. The Jaguars led the NFL in takeaways (31) and run defense.
