HOUSTON – The Texans fired tight ends coach Jake Moreland and moved on from assistant linebackers coach Ben Bolling, per league sources.
Offensive assistant Mike Snyder’s contract expired and wasn’t renewed.
The Texans retained offensive coordinator Nick Caley after his first season calling plays. The Texans are not expected to make major changes to the coaching staff. They are in discussions with other coaches as potential outside hires, per NFL sources.
Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson is a candidate for offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles, per sources. If Johnson was to land an outside job, an in-house candidate for his position that would be considered is senior offensive assistant Jerry Schlupinski.
Moreland had coached for the Texans since 2023, the first year of the DeMeco Ryans era.
Texans tight end Dalton Schultz caught a career-high 82 passes last season.
The previous season, Schultz caught 53 passes for 532 yards and two touchdowns.
Moreland previously coached the Denver Broncos’ tight ends and was an assistant offensive line coach with the New York Jets.
Bolling, working with linebackers coach Bill Davis, was with the Texans for the past five seasons. He was promoted to assistant linebackers coach last year. He spent the previous five years at Campbell University, his alma mater.
Bolling helped coach Pro Bowl linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.
