The pre-draft process leading up to the 2026 NFL draft kicked off in Mobile, AL, for the Senior Bowl on Tuesday. This event is one of the biggest college football all-star games featuring the country’s most prolific prospects.

This week will draw the attention of many Chargers‘ scouts, who will do their homework on players who could be suitors for Los Angeles come April.

L.A. has selected a handful of players in recent years who have participated in the Senior Bowl, including quarterback Justin Herbert.

With that, here are three potential Chargers targets who stood out on Day 1.

EDGE Derrick Moore, Michigan

As of right now, the edge rusher room consists of Tuli Tuipulotu and Kyle Kennard, with the future of Khalil Mack and Odafe Oweh up in the air. The Chargers will definitely make a strong push to bring at least one of them back, but even then, the positional room could benefit from another higher-end player. Moore, who played for head coach Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, was dominant with his power, notably running over Miami offensive tackle Markel Bell with a well-leveraged bull rush in one-on-one drills. He finished with 78 pressures and 14 sacks in his final two seasons for the Wolverines.

Another Michigan standout was Benny, who raised eyebrows during one-on-one and team drills. Benny showed a nice pass-rush profile with good hand usage and quickness off the snap, and paired that with a couple of run stops. The Chargers signed Teair Tart to a three-year extension, and their next order of business should be to bring back Da’Shawn Hand. But even then, the defensive tackle room could use more depth. Benny finished with just a 4.6% missed tackle rate for his career.

OL Jake Slaughter, Florida

After two lackluster seasons with the Chargers, Bradley Bozeman could be a cut candidate. If so, the hope is to land the big fish, Tyler Linderbaum. But even then, it’s imperative to completely retool this position. Slaughter had an impressive first day, particularly in pass protection in one-on-one drills, where he consistently displayed a good anchor and strong hands. He allowed just one sack across over 800 snaps in the 2024 season and one sack in 748 snaps during the 2025 season while facing elite SEC competition.
