KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A Western Michigan University assistant football coach is headed back to the NFL.
The Los Angeles Chargers are hiring WMU defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris O’Leary as their defensive coordinator, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.
O’Leary previously worked as the safeties coach for the Chargers in 2024 before joining the Broncos.

He also sent six seasons at Notre Dame under head coach Marcus Freeman, where he was a safeties/defensive backs coach, according to WMU’s website.
