Giants head coach John Harbaugh had, of course, hoped to hire Todd Monken for the job. Monken, though, accepted a job as head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Cooter, 41, has been coaching in the NFL since he became an offensive assistant with the Colts in 2009 at the age of 25. He has worked for the Colts twice, Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Cooter was offensive coordinator for the Lions from 2016-2018 and has been in that role for Indianapolis the past three seasons.

Cooter has already interviewed twice for the offensive coordinator vacancy with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cooter called plays when he was offensive coordinator of the Lions, but head coach Shane Steichen handles that responsibility with Indianapolis. So, the Giants and Eagles jobs offer him something he doesn’t currently have.
