The New York Giants figured out that their top offensive coordinator candidate is no longer available to them.
As a result, Jim Bob Cooter became one of the first candidates on their list of potential hires. The Giants are the second NFC East team this week to show interest in Cooter.
The Philadelphia Eagles were the first to kick around the idea of hiring Cooter. Their interest came just a few years after bringing him in as a consultant for Nick Sirianni and the Eagles’ staff.Â
Although Jim Bob Cooter wasn’t actually hired to take on a role beyond consulting, the Eagles have obviously kept him in mind, now that they have to find somebody to replace Kevin Patullo after one year. Cooter is one of a few candidates to land multiple interviews with the Eagles this offseason.Â
Who Are the Giants Looking At?
John Harbaugh had his former Baltimore Ravens OC Todd Monken in mind for the job. The Cleveland Browns showed strong interest in the offensive-minded coach, which put the Giants in a tough spot for the past few weeks.
Now that the Browns officially hired Monken, several candidates have been on the Giants’ radar, along with Jim Bob Cooter. Reports have linked the Giants to LSU’s Charlie Weis Jr., Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb, and Indianapolis Colts passing game coordinator Alex Tanney.Â

The Giants are still early on in their process, but they’ll have to move quick. As they got a late start waiting for Monken, plenty of the top offensive coordinator candidates have already found a new landing spot.Â
Jim Bob Cooter, who runs the offensive coordinator position for the Colts, will get a strong consideration.Â
