Like Nate Scheelhaase, Aubrey Pleasant seems destined to remain with the Los Angeles Rams for at least another year. The Los Angeles Chargers interviewed Pleasant for their vacant defensive coordinator position but passed on him for Chris O’Leary, agreeing to a deal with the former Western Michigan defensive coordinator this week.

Pleasant hasn’t had any other documented interviews for positions that are still open, and while it’s still possible he’ll be a candidate for other defensive coordinator jobs, it appears likely he’ll stay in L.A.

In addition to being the Rams’ pass game coordinator, he’s also the assistant head coach. He’s been their pass game coordinator since rejoining the Rams in 2023 and added assistant head coach to his title in 2024.

He’s an important and valuable member of Sean McVay’s coaching staff, so his likely return is big for Los Angeles on defense. He could end up being a head coaching candidate at some point in the future, too; McVay has let him handle head coaching duties during multiple preseason games, preparing him for a job he could eventually have down the line.
