Four teams that should be in the market for an edge rusher this offseason are the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears.

The 49ers posted a league-worst 20 sacks in 2025, and while some of that had to do with losing Nick Bosa to a torn ACL, San Francisco needed more help even before that injury.

The Cowboys shipped off Micah Parsons via trade to the Green Bay Packers last year and they simply were not able to replace his production en route to finishing with just 35 sacks the entire campaign.

The Bears finished with the same amount of sacks and need more juice off the edge opposite Montez Sweat. Austin Booker had a solid season in 2025 with 4.5 sacks in 10 games, but it’s hard to depend on the former fifth-round pick doing that again, and he’s really better suited as a rotational edge rusher.

In Philadelphia, the Eagles traded for Jaelan Phillips at the deadline to bolster their group, but the former first-round pick is slated to be a free agent, so there’s no guarantee he’ll return, and Philly needs more help even if he does.

One edge rusher many teams will have an eye on is Los Angeles Chargers EDGE Odafe Oweh, who is projected to land a three-year, $57.9 million deal by Spotrac.

CBS Sports’ Zachary Pereles believes the Chargers are the best landing spot for Oweh, but he also predicts the Eagles, Cowboys, 49ers and Bears will be suitors. Here’s Pereles’ thoughts:

Oweh was rejuvenated in Los Angeles after a mid-season trade from the Ravens, and keeping him around would allow him to continue to grow in his new environment. Oweh should command a lot of interest given his age and speed, though. Other suitors: 49ers, Bears, Eagles, Cowboys

As Pereles points out, Oweh rebounded in a big way after going to the Chargers in a trade. The veteran posted 7.5 sacks in 12 games after getting blanked during his five contests with the Baltimore Ravens.

Oweh then followed that up by going ham in the wild-card contest against the New England Patriots, when he posted three more sacks to further boost his free-agent outlook.

The Chargers will almost certainly have interest in bringing Oweh back, but we would not call him a lock to return.

If the Chargers bring Khalil Mack back and go on to pay Tuli Tuipolotu, they could opt to let Oweh walk in free agency with so much already invested at the position.

It’s also possible Oweh wants to hit the open market in order to see if there will be a bidding war to help drive up his price. That’s a scenario we could see unfolding considering the premium put on productive edge rushers.

If Oweh does manage to make it to free agency, we would expect the 49ers, Bears, Eagles and Cowboys to all make a play for him, and we certainly would not rule out the Chargers going the extra mile to keep him, either.
