Former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz enters hospice care

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Former Notre Dame head coach Lou Holtz has entered hospice care, according to a report from Kyle Sutherland with On3 and Rivals.

The 89-year-old is a College Football Hall of Famer who coached the Fighting Irish from 1986 to 1996. During his tenure at Notre Dame, Holtz recorded 100 wins, which ranks third all-time in program history.

His most successful season came in 1988 when Notre Dame went 12-0 and won the national championship, the program’s most recent title.
