The Detroit Lions signed former Chicago Bears tight end Thomas Gordon to a Reserve/Future contract on Thursday.
Gordon, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound tight end out of Northwestern, just completed his rookie season in the Windy City. The Bears signed Gordon as an undrafted free agent at the beginning of August ahead of this past season, but Gordon failed to make Chicago’s 53-man roster exiting training camp.
Chicago would sign Gordon to its practice squad on Dec. 24, 2025, for the final two weeks of the regular season and for its pair of postseason games. Gordon did not appear in a game during the 2025 NFL season.
Across six seasons at Northwestern, Gordon appeared in 54 games and made 18 starts, catching 54 passes for 529 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Gordon was a three-star signee in Northwestern’s 2019 signing class and rated as the nation’s No. 23 tight end and as the No. 59 player in Texas when he signed with the Wildcats out of Strake Jesuit High School, per 247Sports.
