Kyle Juszczyk has urged the San Francisco 49ers to investigate a long-standing theory linking a nearby electrical facility to the team’s injury problems.

Kyle Juszczyk and the San Francisco 49ers are again in focus as Levi’s Stadium prepares to host the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.

Kyle Juszczyk calls for investigation into substation theory

According to Front Office Sports, Kyle Juszczyk said the theory has been discussed inside the locker room for years.

The fullback said the lack of clear scientific evidence has not stopped players on the 49ers from questioning it.

“It’s definitely been a talking point for years,” Juszczyk said. “It’s one of those things that it’s just so hard to say because the science is not clear behind it. And I’m very much a science-driven person. And I want to see the numbers and the statistics.”

Juszczyk has been with the 49ers since 2017 and was named a first-team All-Pro again this season. The 49ers fell short against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Round.

Injury history keeps theory alive inside 49ers locker room

The issue resurfaced after general manager John Lynch confirmed the team would examine the theory. Lynch said the organization had a responsibility to investigate anything connected to player health and safety.

Juszczyk acknowledged the lack of scientific consensus but said the injury record fuels curiosity. Medical experts have largely dismissed the theory, but it continues to circulate within NFL circles.

“I mean, is it a coincidence that we’ve led the NFL in injuries for the last, like, decade?” Juszczyk said.

“I don’t know, it very well could be. Because a lot of injuries simply come down to bad luck, bad timing, you’re in a bad position.”

It’s hard to say what kind of merit the theory about the substation impacting the 49ers’ injury record has, but given the severity of their injury crisis, an investigation is certainly warranted.
