Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy spoke to reporters via Zoom during his introductory press conference, sharing his thoughts on energizing the running game after a disappointing 2025 season.
“First and foremost, we obviously have a tremendous staff. Obviously, with (Head) Coach (Andy) Reid, we’re going to figure out what things we need to do moving forward as far asmaking sure we’re getting the right people in the building.” said Bieniemy, “When it’s all said and done with, we’re going to make sure that we can do the things that we do best.”

Kansas City’s running game lacked explosion all season due to injuries, and big plays were rare from the position. Bieniemy was a vital member of the Chicago Bears’ coaching staff last season as their running backs coach, helping the team win the NFC North.
“We have one of the better o-lineman coaches here in the industry in (Offensive Line) Coach (Andy) Heck,” said Bieniemy, “He does an outstanding job with those guys up front and then just having an impact and just making sure that we’re doing the things that we can do, that’s going to help us moving forward. Yes, have I been exposed to a number of run schemes, yes. At the end of the day, we got to make sure that we’re doing what is best for us moving forward, and I just think that’s a general overall plan.”
Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco led the team in rushing, with Hunt finishing with 611 yards and Pacheco with 462 yards. Rookie running back Brashard Smith contributed with 151 yards on the ground but proved to be a versatile threat in the passing game.
