Raheem Morris

The Buffalo Bills have a new head coach in town. With Joe Brady taking over as the head coach, he will need to start assembling the staff. One of the biggest spots on the coaching staff he will need to figure out is the defensive coordinator spot, especially since that was something Sean McDermott played an integral part in coaching while he was there.

*Prediction*

With a team like the Bills, many coordinators should have an interest in being hired due to them being an annual Super Bowl contender with Josh Allen as the quarterback. That being said, taking over as Buffalo’s defensive coordinator will come with immense pressure due to the standard that has been set.

If there is one ideal candidate the Bills need to look to hire, it is Raheem Morris.

Buffalo Bills Hire Raheem Morris as the Next Defensive Coordinator

Raheem Morris is coming off two years as the Atlanta Falcons head coach, which didn’t necessarily lead to success, and led to him being fired at the end of the 2025 NFL season.

While Raheem Morris’ tenure as a head coach didn’t go well, his time as a defensive coordinator went much better. During his time with the Los Angeles Rams, he proved he could string together consistent seasons of quality production from his units.

One of the most notable highlights of his time with the Rams was the pivotal role the defense played during the 2021 NFL season, culminating in their appearance in Super Bowl LVI.

Throughout that season, the defense showcased a remarkable blend of talent, discipline, and execution, effectively shutting down opposing offenses and creating numerous turnovers. This defensive prowess not only bolstered the team’s overall performance but also instilled a sense of confidence and resilience within the squad.

The Bills have the defensive talent on the team that Raheem Morris can work with and start to get the most out of. This includes guys like Greg Rousseau, Deone Walker, Christian Benford, Taron Johnson, and Maxwell Hairston.

If Raheem Morris can show once again that his defensive mind can get the most out of Buffalo’s defense over the next few seasons, he should find himself back in head coaching conversations.

The defense was also an issue that held Buffalo back at points, and if Morris can help them like he has other defenses in the past, he could be the key to Buffalo finally making another Super Bowl.
