Another team has emerged as a potential landing spot for Indianapolis Colts’ offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter.

It was reported by Jeremy Fowler that Cooter had interviewed in-person with the Philadelphia Eagles for their offensive coordinator opening.

Now, Peter Schrager has reported that the New York Giants are also expressing interest in Cooter for their offensive coordinator vacancy.

Cooter and the Giants will meet to discuss the opening. John Harbaugh was hired this offseason to be the Giants’ next head coach.

Cooter already holds the title of offensive coordinator with the Colts. However, one likely difference between that role and these two openings is that the Eagles’ and Giants’ jobs would come with play-calling duties, providing Cooter with a step up in responsibility.

With that said, the NFL views this as a lateral move if Cooter were to get one of these jobs, since he’d be going from offensive coordinator to offensive coordinator. So Shane Steichen has to give Cooter the go-ahead to pursue these outside opportunities, according to SI’s Albert Breer.

This season, the Colts’ offense finished eighth in points per game scored and eighth in yards per play.

Through the first half of the season, the Colts had one of the most productive offenses in football, with a scheme that was hard to defend.

Cooter has been with the Colts in this role since 2023.
