A former Denver Broncos second-round draft pick is taking his talents to the United Football League.

KJ Hamler agreed to sign with the Orlando Storm on Thursday, James Larsen of UFL Newsroom first reported. The news was later confirmed by the UFL’s transaction wire.

Hamler (5-9, 178 pounds) was picked by the Broncos in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft out of Penn State. He battled various injuries during his time in Denver, missing 27 of the team’s 50 games from 2020-2022. Hamler was released with a non-football illness designation in 2023 after he was diagnosed with pericarditis, a heart irritation.

After treating his heart irritation, Hamler spent time with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023 before later joining the Buffalo Bills‘ practice squad in 2024. He has not appeared in a regular season game since 2022 when he totaled seven receptions for 165 yards in seven games. Hamler’s healthiest season in the NFL was his rookie year. In 13 games that season, he totaled 30 receptions for 381 yards and three touchdowns.

The 26-year-old receiver will now continue his football career in Orlando with the Storm, one of the UFL’s new expansion teams for the upcoming 2026 season.
