The Los Angeles Rams are nearing the end of the Matthew Stafford era, and they could draft his replacement this April with their extra first-round pick.
The Rams own two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft: 13th and 29th.

The earlier selection comes via a trade with the Atlanta Falcons in the 2025 NFL Draft, giving the Rams a good deal of draft capital for a move up or to potentially trade for another pick in 2027, when there is a deeper draft class.

At No. 11 overall, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson could be available, as he is the consensus second-best quarterback in the class, but a tier below Fernando Mendoza.
Simpson could go anywhere from the middle of the first round down to the second round, depending on how his pre-draft process goes, but veteran NFL Draft expert Todd McShay believes the Rams are a team to look at with the No. 11 selection.

“Simpson is probably going to be somewhere later in the first. Watch out for the Rams at 11,” McShay said on his podcast.
What do scouts say about Ty Simpson?
ESPN’s Mel Kiper has Simpson ranked at No. 25 overall on his Big Board — his ranking of prospects ahead of the NFL Draft.
“His lack of experience might be a concern, as Simpson didn’t start a game until this season, but the production is hard to ignore,” Kiper wrote in his scouting report.
“Simpson knows the game and competes on every down. He’s a battler who is always trying to make a play — sometimes to his detriment. And Simpson maneuvers well in the pocket and can beat defenses with his legs when the passing play isn’t there.”
