All four starting QBs in the NFC West are in different tiers, per PFF.

In PFF’s 2025 offseason rankings ofthe 32 projected stating quarterbacks in the NFL, Arizona Cardinals starter Kyler Murray comes in at No. 15. But what about the other quarterbacks in the NFC West?

The Cardinals have Murray. The L.A. Rams have Matthew Stafford. The San Francisco 49ers just signed Brock Purdy to a huge extension. The Seattle Seahawks signed Sam Darnold this offseason.

But where do each rank in the NFL, per PFF’s standards?

2025 NFL QB rankings: The NFC WestMatthew Stafford, Rams: No. 7Brock Purdy, 49ers: No. 11Kyler Murray, Cardinals: No. 15Sam Darnold, Seahawks: No. 26Analysis

Stafford is in the second tier of “high-end starters.” He had an elite season when he led the Rams to a title. He still has some of the best arm talent in the league. He is the clear No. 1 in the West.

Purdy comes in behind Geno Smith (puzzling) but is an appropriate tier, the one where the players are “solid starters who have flashed high-end play.” Purdy was a legitimate MVP candidate in 2023. With no Chirstian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk last season, he looked much more ordinary but still was very good, good enough for the Niners to give him a five-year, $265 million extension.

Murray is in the tier just below Purdy in Tier 3B, where the QBs are “solid starters, but they need more help.” He is behind Baker Mayfield, Jordan Love and C.J. Stroud. In terms of descriptions of tiers, he deserves to be in the same one as Purdy, as he does flash MVP-type talent, although it has been a few seasons since he showed it over a period of time.

Darnold is in Tier 5, the tier of “veterans capable of solid play but could be quickly replaced.” Darnold was fantastic in Minnesota but had some of the best weapons in the league. The talent has always been there, but his decision making has always been suspect.
