Shedeur Sanders is part of a crowded quarterback room with the Cleveland Browns heading into the summer.

Sanders’ NFL Draft fall was well-chronicled, as the University of Colorado star went from a potential first-round pick all the way to being chosen 144th overall in the fifth round. Sanders wasn’t even the first quarterback the Browns picked this year; that would be Dillon Gabriel, drafted in the third round out of Oregon.

Right now, the Browns have four quarterbacks battling it out, with Sanders and Gabriel joining ageless veteran Joe Flacco and former Steelers and Eagles signal caller Kenny Pickett in the group. Deshaun Watson is unlikely to play for the team again due to his torn Achilles and egregious contract.

Sanders and Gabriel had their every moves scrutinized during rookie training camp earlier this month, and all eyes will be on the fourth QBs when OTAs start next week.

At the NFLPA Rookie Premiere event this week, Sanders spoke with FanDuel TV’s Kay Adams about the dynamic in the Cleveland quarterback room. Despite the competition, he says there’s also real camaraderie.

“Everybody’s cool in the room,” Sanders told Adams. “Outside the room, people try to pit us against each other, but, inside the room, we know we’re one.”

On Monday, Sanders signed his first NFL contract, locking himself in for $4.6 million over four years. The next step is continuing to show progress over the next few months.

“I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity,” Sanders said. “I don’t ever focus on the negative or even think about the negative. I’ve just got to prove and show what I’m capable of. What fuels me is my purpose in life and understanding the route that we’re going to have to take. Understanding that I was able to get an opportunity when a lot of people didn’t want to give me an opportunity. So that’s what I’m truly thankful for.”
