There’s never been a fan base like that of the Philadelphia Eagles. There’s no other media market like the City of Brotherly Love. You aren’t talking us out of this. Yes, the Cleveland Browns and Buffalo Bills have endured more pain. Sure, the Las Vegas Raiders Nation is almost equally insane at times, but let’s be honest. Raiders fans were more hostile when the team was in Oakland.
As far as the media covering this team. Think about something for a second. You can draw parallels to New York’s passion and aggressiveness, but it doesn’t have the same reputation. Much love to the Big Apple, to Gotham, but something is different in this town. If the Eagles lose, you’d better request a few wellness checks.
Birds fans and the local media live and die with their football team. That may not be a literal jawn, but it’s pretty close to being spot-on. One day before the Sean Mannion hire – one day – there was calamity. One day after the announcement of the Josh Grizzard hire, things couldn’t be any more peaceful.
The Eagles media and fan base have fallen in love with Josh Grizzard.
We hate to say ‘We told you so’. No… That isn’t true. Yes, it’s bush league to do this, but yes… We told you so. We asked you… Shouldn’t this team have earned our trust by now?

All the complaining. All of the negativity. The hours dedicated to complaining about a hostile work environment… You do realize all of that worrying was done for no reason, right?
The Eagles took their time with their OC search, and it went past the three-week mark, but they found two young, bright minds to help drive innovation.
Sean Mannion will serve as offensive coordinator. Josh Grizzard was also added. He’s the new pass game coordinator. Both come highly esteemed.
Former Eagles quarterback and franchise legend Nick Foles was once Mannion’s teammate. He has been one of the new OC’s biggest supporters, and Mannion has many. The rave reviews also continue for Coach Grizzard.
Yes, we understand the climate. We respect the urgency. Losing will never be acceptable in Philadelphia—save for that one strange chapter when an NBA team tried to lose on purpose, but that’s a different story and not the point here.
This ends where it began: Philadelphia is different. The fans are different. The media is different. Panic and pleasure live one headline apart, yet hope is never far behind.
We’re not here to beat anyone up. This comes from a place of love. Some of us have been on this ride a long time, and here’s the honest advice from the old heads: You only get one life. Don’t spend it complaining about every incompletion and every loss as we did.
We agonized for three weeks over the Eagles’ OC search, and in the end, everything worked out. The headaches are gone. Timelines are quiet. Confidence has returned. Now ask yourself a question. What if we’d spent that time doing something better than feeding our own frustration?
Maybe that’s the lesson. Be patient with us. We’re learning it, just like everyone else. We have decades of thinking that we’re trying to unlearn now.
