GLENDALE – The Arizona Cardinals are taking a massive risk to interview Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Arizona has been linked to Los Angeles Rams OC Mike LaFleur for the head coaching position, and had him in the building for two days this past week. However, LaFleur left and the franchise are interviewing Kuiak over the weekend for the job, despite his heavy connection the Las Vegas Raiders job.

As Week 4 of the NFL job search is about to end, ESPN’s Adam Schefter puts down a rumor on The Pat McAfee Show. Reports have come out that Kubiak could return to Seattle for another seasons as the offensive coordinator, but Schefter believes otherwise.

Schefter certain Kubiak will take a head coaching position:

Schefter didn’t outright say the Cardinals were out of running for the Seahawks coordinator, which is better sign than one would initially think. It was a surprise Kubiak took an interview with Arizona, seemingly because not many to candidates took in-person interviews with the franchise. Now, whether he takes the conversation and job offer seriously is another question.

General manager Monti Ossenfort not hiring LaFleur on Tuesday seemed like a Red Herring. The two’s interaction was the second interview and seemed like the final meeting before making it official. The hold up could because someone with the Cardinals isn’t sold on LaFler yet, which could be Ossenfort himself or owner Michael Bidwill.

Regardless, the franchise is still without a head coach and is expected to have an interview today or tomorrow with Kubiak. Fans will get an understanding of how the exchange plays out with how quickly Arizona pivots to hiring LaFleur, as Kubiak seems locked in to the Las Vegas job.
