…according to The Athletic, Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins is expected to be released.
Kirk Cousins will be thirty-eight years old, heading into his fifteenth season.
Now, I don’t think that this is necessarily shocking news, as the Falcons are changing everything within their organization.
They have, they’ve changed not only their head coaching staff, they’re changing much of the way they do business.
they brought in Matt Ryan as a new president of football operations.
They’re hiring new GMs.
Everything about the way Atlanta is doing business is changing.
But it is funny to me that just a couple of years ago, we were stunned when Michael Penix Jr. was the draft pick, only months after paying Kirk Cousins a ton of money.

And then when Pe- when Penix couldn’t stay healthy, all of a sudden it was like, “Well, no, maybe this is the right answer.”
Now that we have a little bit more time on task with the Caroline, it is clear that the Falcons took two swings at the quarterback position.
They’ve missed on at least one of them, with Kirk being released, and we’ll see how the other one plays out.
This takes away any safety net right now for whatever the future of the position looks like for Atlanta.
