The New York Giants need to keep building up the offensive line in front of quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Keeping Dart healthy is difficult enough with how aggressive he is when running the football, but not having a competent offensive line in front of him only increases the injury risk.
New York’s group upfront actually took a step forward in 2025 after improving in both pass-block and run-block win rates, ranking 11th and 18th in those areas, respectively, but more strides need to be made in 2026.
The Giants have two starters set to be free agents in tackle Jermaine Eluemunor and guard Greg Van Roten, so there could be some turnover in 2026.
In New York’s quest to improve the offensive line, Stadium Rant’s Cameron Willey predicts the Giants will sign Baltimore Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum, who is projected to land a $70 million contract in free agency this offseason.
“With John Harbaugh becoming the head coach of the Giants, there isn’t much that needs to be said here,” he said. “New York needs a center, and Tyler Linderbaum spent four years with Harbaugh in Baltimore. He’s one of the best centers in football, and this would be a slam-dunk signing for Big Blue’s new era.”
A report from SNY’s Connor Hughes said that Giants head coach John Harbaugh would be targeting some of his former players in free agency, and he specifically mentioned Linderbaum as a possible target.
Knowing that, it’s possible this prediction comes to fruition.
Granted, the Giants do have a starting center on the roster already in John Michael Schmitz, but he is simply not the caliber of player the three-time Pro Bowler is.
If the Giants were to sign Linderbaum, they could either choose to move Schmitz to guard or trade him. The former move is more likely, but with Schmitz entering the final year of his deal, the latter could happen, also.
But the Ravens are likely going to try hard to re-sign Linderbaum, who is one of the better centers in the NFL. And, there’s a chance he won’t even hit the open market if the Ravens slap the franchise tag on Linderbaum, which is possible.
If Linderbaum does make it to free agency, we’d expect the Giants to be one of his many suitors.
