Eli Manning is a big fan of the Giants’ decision to hire John Harbaugh as their new head coach
The New York Giants have had a hectic start to the offseason, to say the least. After John Harbaugh was surprisingly fired by the Baltimore Ravens, the Giants swooped in and quickly hired him to be their new head coach. The move has been met with positive reviews from folks everywhere, and that includes one of their former quarterbacks, Eli Manning.
Since Manning retired after the 2019 campaign, New York has struggled to reestablish itself as a consistent playoff contender. With the team seeming to find their quarterback of the future, Jaxson Dart, in 2025, that made their head coach search wildly important. And if you ask Manning, he seems to believe that the Giants hired the right guy when they landed on Harbaugh.

Harbaugh enjoyed an 18-year run with the Ravens, helping them win their most recent championship in Super Bowl XLVII. While Baltimore is still one of the top teams in the league, it has consistently failed to get over the hump during the Lamar Jackson era, and after missing the playoffs this year, the team decided it was time to move on from Harbaugh.
That led to him landing with New York, which only won four games in 2025. And yet, there are reasons for optimism surrounding the team heading into the new season. On offense, the Giants have a slew of talented young players, such as Dart, Malik Nabers, and Cam Skattebo. Defensively, New York has one of the top pass-rushing trios in the league in Brian Burns, Abdul Carter, and Kayvon Thibodeaux.
The missing piece has been a leader who can find a way to get the best out of his team. That’s where Harbaugh comes into play, and having faced off against him several times throughout his career, Manning knows exactly what the veteran head coach is all about. As a result, he’s a big fan of New York’s decision to tab Harbaugh as its new head coach.
“It’s that person that you get, the same person every single day, there’s going to be highs and lows through the course of a season, but you gotta bring that same commitment and work ethic every single day,” Manning said in an interview with Esports Insider. “I think that’s what you get with Coach Harbaugh.”

There are still quite a few holes on the Giants’ roster that need to be filled this offseason, but having a proven winner in Harbaugh leading the way will hopefully help the team improve its performance in 2026. It may take some time for Harbaugh to get things right, but there’s reason to believe that New York is a team on the rise.
As Harbaugh continues to fill out his coaching staff, the front office is likely beginning to plan on how it will improve the roster for him in his first season in charge of the team. If the Giants can sign a couple of immediate contributors in free agency and nail their draft picks, they could be a dark-horse wild-card team in the NFC next year.
