METAIRIE, La. (KLFY) – Week one of OTAs is in the books for the New Orleans Saints.

Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough looked sharp on the practice field on Thursday, but head coach Kellen Moore doesn’t want fans to look too deeply at who’s going with the ones or the twos. He just wants to continue to see improvement from his quarterbacks.

“For the most part, the quarterback’s just been rotating. Just kind of by the day. You know, I don’t want to get into a…Where they’re always looking who’s in who’s out to create a little better rhythm each day. And so, you know, Spence took the ones today, and you know, continue to rotate throughout the whole offseason,” he said.

Shough went 7-8 in Thursday’s practice; Rattler went 8-8. Despite that, Moore says this time period in the offseason is for preparation, not evaluation.

“I think this time of year; you are limited to an allotment limits 6 hours. I think OTAs really are about efficiency. You got to be really, really special with your time. And so, the meetings are probably shorter than you’d normally have in season, just naturally by rules. But I think our guys do an excellent job. Again, this is a very much a teaching phase and a building phase. And so, you know, at times its small increments building and then it allows us to continue to build through training camp,” he explained.
