The Denver Broncos had one of the best defenses in the NFL in 2025 and odds are, they’ll want to keep that unit together as much as possible.

Starting cornerback Riley Moss had a roller-coaster season, but the fact that he led the league in defensive pass interference penalties drew the ire of many within Broncos Country. Would the team be open to moving him?

Moss will be entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2026. The Broncos will have to decide whether to extend his contract or allow him to enter free agency next offseason, where they would get nothing in return if he signs a contract with another team.

Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report published an article looking at the top three trade targets for each NFL team this offseason, and he has three teams with Moss on the list.

The Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers are teams that Ballentine believes could approach the Broncos regarding a trade for the 25-year-old corner. Each of those teams could use help in the secondary and could obtain a young player in a relatively cost-friendly deal.

The Broncos used their first-round selection on Jahdae Barron out of Texas last spring and they will want to get him on the field more in 2026. However, Ja’Quan McMillian has been too good in his role as the team’s nickel corner spot to be taken off the field. That could leave Moss as the odd man out.

Teams playing the Broncos this season routinely took shots down the field against Moss, looking to take advantage of a perceived mismatch or draw a pass interference penalty. With Pat Surtain II on the other side of the field, this is a practice that isn’t going to change.

That said, despite the many flags thrown against him this season, Moss more than held his own in pass coverage and though many Broncos fans may disagree, he has been a solid cornerback for the team. The Broncos don’t have to move him and unless they are blown away by an offer, they shouldn’t.

The team can move forward with the secondary as is and enjoy what could be an embarrassment of riches if Barron turns into the player many believe he will. Moss is a big piece of this team’s defense and the Broncos shouldn’t tinker with that chemistry.
