NFL analyst Emmanuel Acho recently offered an interesting take about the Cleveland Browns hiring Todd Monken as their head coach.

Acho, a former analyst with ESPN and FOX Sports, made it clear that he is not a fan of the hire. Acho acknowledged that Monken has an impressive resume as an offensive coordinator, but he doesn’t believe he is ready to be a head coach.

“There is nothing about Todd Monken as a head coach that should get you excited,” Emmanuel Acho said on a recent episode of Speakeasy.

He then took his criticism a step further, stating that Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders should not listen to Monken’s advice.

“If I’m Shedeur or anybody in that locker room, why am I listening to Todd Monken? What have you won on an NFL level as a head coach?” the former Eagles player said.

“You’re not even a head coach on an NFL level. So I don’t even have expectations for Shedeur under Todd Monken, because I believe any expectations I would have, he would not meet. Because why am I excited about it?”

Acho’s message to Sanders led to him being called out by numerous former players and current analysts.

“Hey @grok is this the dumbest sports take ever?” former NFL QB and CBS Sports analyst Danny Kannell said.

Former NFL offensive lineman and Current NFL analyst Taylor Lewan added: “If you’re a young football player in the NFL this is the worst possible mindset to have. Learn and grow as much as you can from as many as you can. Horrible take, bad for football take.”

In addition, former NFL star tight end Benjamin Watson said: “This is dumb. And loud. You listen to Todd Monken because he is your head coach. It’s your job. Also, every head coach was at one point a first time head coach.”

Emmanuel Acho, whose video about Todd Monken reached more than 12 million people, attended the University of Texas prior to beginning his professional football career. He was named first-team All-Big 12 during his senior season with the Longhorns.

The Dallas native was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He went on to play for the Eagles and Giants, in addition to the Browns.
