Elko High star Coy Jones committed Tuesday morning to the Nevada football team.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Jones was the Northern 3A Most Valuable Player last fall after leading Elko to a regular-season league title and state semifinal berth. A two-way standout, Jones was one of the state’s most versatile players in 2025.

On offense, Jones caught 40 passes for 658 yards and nine touchdowns. He had 19 rushes for 107 yards and two more scores. Jones also averaged 40 yards per kick return and 21.9 yards per punt return, scoring five return touchdowns (three kickoffs, two punts). On defense, Jones had seven interceptions. He added 35 tackles and a sack. Last season, he scored five different ways — receiving, rushing, kick return, punt return and via an interception.

For his career, Jones scored 29 touchdowns and had 16 interceptions in 31 games over three varsity seasons. He is expected to start his college career in the defensive secondary. Jones was offered a spot on Nevada’s roster Saturday.

Jones is an unrated prospect by 247Sports but joins a Nevada 2026 recruiting class that is heavy on local players. The Wolf Pack signed Reed RB Bronwyn Rios, Damonte Ranch WR Amari Nash, Bishop Manogue OL Max Zuro, Bishop Manogue DB Joey Thomas III and Bishop Manogue K/P Kyle Nelson in December’s early signing period.

The NCAA’s second high school signing period is Wednesday when Nevada is expected to announce several more additions to its 2026 recruiting class.
