A new gunshot detection system is now in place at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ headquarters as part of ongoing security upgrades.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers is now using AmberBox Gunshot Detection technology at the AdventHealth Training Center, as part of the team’s ongoing security upgrades.

Bucs officials say this rollout is one of several initiatives the team is implementing to create a safer environment for fans, players, coaches and staff.

“AmberBox has established itself as an industry leader in gunshot detection,” Buccaneers COO Brian Ford said. “Its integrated alert system adds another layer of protection, enhancing our ability to respond quickly in the unlikely event of an active threat.”

According to AmberBox, the system uses a network of specialized sensors that detect the unique sound and heat signatures of gunfire. These sensors feed data into a machine-learning system that quickly confirms whether a firearm was discharged and pinpoints its location.

Once a gunshot is verified, AmberBox automatically sends real-time alerts to security teams and law enforcement.

“Every second counts in an emergency, and the AmberBox system dramatically reduces average police notification time from five minutes to just 3.6 seconds,” James Popper, CEO of AmberBox, said.

AmberBox says the system officially went live this month and that both virtual and live testing are ongoing.

As for Raymond James Stadium, an AmberBox representative tells 10 Tampa Bay News their company is not currently deployed there. Training centers are typically the first priority for many teams, with deployments expanding to other buildings over time.
