The Philadelphia Eagles are expected to move on from former first-round wide receiver Jahan Dotson following his comments after the 2025 season finale.

As Inside The Iggles noted, Dotson offered comments that strongly suggested his time with the organization has come to an end.

Speaking to reporter Johnny McGonigal, the former Penn State standout and first-round pick acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future in Philly.

“It’s tough because I know this is probably my last day here,” Dotson said.

“It was fun. I learned a lot while I was here. Truly a remarkable two years.”

Those remarks came amid growing league-wide expectations that the Eagles will look elsewhere as they reshape their wide receiver room for 2026.

A Homecoming That Never Took Flight

Dotson’s return to Pennsylvania carried significant emotional appeal.

A former star at Nazareth High School and a standout with the Penn State Nittany Lions, Dotson arrived in Philadelphia via trade from Washington ahead of the 2024 season.

He had hopes of reviving the explosiveness that once made him a first-round pick.

That revival never fully materialized.

Slotted primarily as the Eagles’ No. 3 wide receiver, Dotson struggled to carve out a consistent role in an offense that leaned heavily on its established playmakers.

Over two seasons, he failed to reach 20 receptions or 300 receiving yards in either year.

He finished his Eagles tenure with 37 catches for 478 yards and just one touchdown.

The highlight of Dotson’s Eagles career came on a 27-yard reception in Super Bowl LIX.

This play set the offense up at the 1-yard line and directly led to the game’s opening touchdown.

While Dotson did earn a Super Bowl ring during his time in Philadelphia, his on-field impact never came close to matching the expectations attached to his first-round pedigree.

Eagles and Jahan Dotson’s Next Steps

For the Eagles, the situation underscores a familiar NFL reality that opportunity and production ultimately dictate roster decisions.

Dotson carried a $2.7 million price tag while occupying a depth role.

This is a combination that often puts players squarely on the roster bubble once contracts expire.

With younger options and cap flexibility likely higher priorities this offseason, league observers expect Philadelphia to move on rather than attempt another reset with Dotson in the same role.

His own comments after the season only reinforced that belief.

Now set to hit free agency, the former No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft will likely have to fight for a fresh start elsewhere.

At just 25 years old, Dotson still has time to reestablish himself as the potential is still there.

For the Eagles, major questions at the wide receiver position await.

With A.J. Brown emerging as a major offseason trade talking point, the Eagles could be forced to address wide receiver through the draft or free agency if both Brown and Dotson ultimately depart.
