Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown has emerged as the center of offseason trade speculation after a new report from NFL insider Dianna Russini offered a blunt assessment of where she believes the situation is headed.
Speaking with PHLY Sports at Super Bowl Opening Night, Russini said she expects the ongoing tension between Brown and the Eagles to ultimately end with a trade.
Russini made it clear that she would not be surprised if Philadelphia moves the star receiver this offseason.
“I have a feeling it’s going to resolve itself by A.J. no longer being in Philly,” Russini said.
“That’s where I think it’s going to head. I don’t know that for a fact yet.”
Russini also revealed that she had previously explored Brown’s market value around the trade deadline.
She suggested the Eagles could receive a second-round pick in return if they decide to move on.
“I was poking around on it around the trade deadline, just in case they did it… they’d get a second-rounder,” she said.
Her comments quickly raised new questions about Brown’s immediate future in Philly.
A.J. Brown’s Frustration Has Been Building
A.J. Brown’s name has surfaced in trade conversations since the Eagles were eliminated in the Divisional Round.
From sideline outbursts to pointed podcast comments, the three-time Pro Bowler did little to hide his dissatisfaction in Philly.
Despite all the noise, the Eagles haven’t seriously entertained moving Brown yet.
General manager Howie Roseman publicly downplayed the rumors when asked about them after the year ended.
“It is hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J. is a great player,” Roseman said.
“That’s what we’re looking for when we go out in free agency and the draft, great players who love football, and he’s that guy.”
Still, Russini’s belief that the situation may “resolve itself” through a trade suggests league insiders view the relationship as increasingly difficult to repair.
Trade Would Trigger Major Roster Shift
For now, Philadelphia continues to publicly support Brown.
But with his trade value increasingly clear, his frustration well documented, and insider confidence growing, the Eagles appear to be approaching a crossroads.
If Brown is ultimately moved, Philadelphia would have multiple paths to explore.
They could target veteran wide receivers in a deep 2026 free-agent class or invest early draft capital at the position.
George Pickens, Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel, and Jauan Jennings are just some of the big names in this loaded free agent WR group.
This gives Philadelphia experienced options if it chooses to reshape the position.
But if the Eagles were to move Brown, the ripple effects would be significant.
DeVonta Smith would immediately slide into the No. 1 receiver role.
But Philadelphia could be facing a broader overhaul of its current pass-catching group.
Tight end Dallas Goedert and wide receiver Jahan Dotson are both pending free agents, leaving the offense thin at key positions.
For now, a long offseason awaits as it remains to be seen if Brown will actually be moved.
