VIDEO REPORT: Drew Brees ready to take over the Bay Area on NFL Honors night
Yeah, Drew Brees still holds *** number of NFL records. Most 5000 yard passing seasons, most seasons leading the NFL in passing yards, most consecutive games with *** passing touchdown. Look, I can go on and on and on. One guy along for the ride, James Hurst, who played alongside Drew Brees in his final season in 2020. Hurst says that Brees just died. dominated the defense that entire training camp, saying Brees never got fooled by the defense. He always knew what they were gonna do based on our formation, our alignment, and how they, they lined up over our receivers. And it was incredible because, you know, I’m going along thinking, one day he’s gonna get it wrong, one day he’s gonna mess up, he’s gonna misidentify. The pressure or the blitz, whatever it might be, and he never did. I mean, 0 times for an entire training camp, that’s 30 days of practice, and he was 100%. So that was, that was really fun to be *** part of. Yeah, it was fun because the Saints were winning with number 9 under center because he knows the game like no other player does. So, does that make Brees the smartest player Hurst has ever played with? He was one of one. He, and he spent the time to it. Obviously, naturally, he was an intelligent guy. But he was in the film room, I mean, the hours of film he would watching the opponent was, was really unbelievable. It was cool to see because he’s not just flipping through film to check *** box. He’s diagnosing the defense, he’s understanding why they do what they do. He’s getting tendencies of defensive backs, linebackers, safeties, so he can go. On the field and he can actually execute the game plan. Now, it could be *** big night at the NFL Honors for the Saints on top of Drew Brees. Tyler Shuck is going for NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, and Demario Davis is up for Walter Payton, NFL Man of the Year. The only Saint to win that award, of course, Drew Brees, who won it in 2006.
