All season long, opposing defenses have tried to slow down Seattle Seahawks star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
They’ve had little success.
How 2025 Seahawks would stack up historically with Super Bowl win
Smith-Njigba led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards during the regular season, which was the eighth-most in a single season in NFL history. In doing so, the third-year wideout accounted for a whopping 44.1% of Seattle’s receiving yards and 30.6% of its total yardage.
Smith-Njigba then authored another massive performance in last week’s NFC Championship, hauling in 10 receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown to help key the Seahawks’ 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
Guess who?! JSN.

In the Super Bowl, Smith-Njigba will face a quality New England Patriots secondary that’s led by Pro Bowl cornerback Christian Gonzalez, veteran corner Carlton Davis III and nickelback Marcus Jones. All three finished among the league’s top 25 cornerbacks in Pro Football Focus grading.
But how exactly will the Patriots deploy their secondary – and their defense overall – against the NFL’s leading receiver?
Yahoo! Sports’ Nate Tice, who joined Seattle Sports’ Bump and Stacy on Monday, sees that as the most intriguing matchup-related question heading into the Super Bowl.
“What’s the JSN plan for the Patriots’ defense?” Tice said. “They’ve been such a heavily game-planned defense this playoffs. They blitz a ton on third and fourth down, which could be a little thorn in (Seattle’s) side. But if you blitz, that might leave one-on-one opportunities for JSN.
“So, are you playing more passive and just double-guarding him with some of the old (Bill) Belichick stuff? Or is there gonna be a changeup that they throw in there? That’s really the one thing I’m excited to see answered… because JSN, as we all know, has just been so tremendous this year and such a driver of that Seahawks offense.”
