The Minnesota Vikings have had to make some moves with their coaching staff as some people are not coming back in 2026 for various reasons. While some were told they would not be needed, others are taking jobs and promotions elsewhere. The latest coach to leave was reported on Tuesday night, creating another opening for Kevin O’Connell to fill.

Steelers correspondent Mark Kaboly has reported that Minnesota Vikings passing game coordinator and tight ends coach Brian Angelichio is nearing a deal to make him the offensive coordinator with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Angelichio has coached tight ends at various levels since 2006. In a full-circle moment, he comes back to Pittsburgh, where he coached at the University from 2006 to 2010. Other notable stops include six more NFL teams, such as the Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers. The latter is the connection that finds him going to the Steelers as their new head coach, Mike McCarthy, is building out his new staff.

O’Connell has already made new additions to the coaching staff, including Frank Smith as assistant head coach, Keith Carter as offensive line coach, Gerald Alexander as the team’s defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator.

The last addition is Ryan Nielsen, who joins as the defensive line coach.
