Mike McCarthy’s new offensive coordinator is an old friend from Green Bay.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing a deal to hire Brian Angelichio as their OC, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday, per sources.
Angelichio, 53, spent the last four seasons as the Minnesota Vikings’ passing game coordinator and tight ends coach. He previously coached under McCarthy, now the Steelers’ head coach, and with quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay from 2016-18, serving as a tight ends coach. Angelichio will be familiar with the environs in Pittsburgh, as well, as he served as TEs coach for the collegiate Panthers from 2006-2010 under Dave Wannstedt.
Additionally, Pittsburgh is hiring former Commanders defensive coordinator Joe Whitt Jr. as assistant head coach/secondary coach, Pelissero reported.
