New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel is willing to stake a lot on winning the 2026 Super Bowl, but maybe not as much as he’s previously implied.

The 50-year-old coach, who won three Super Bowl rings while playing as a linebacker for the Patriots in the early aughts, has not yet won the title during his coaching career.

He has a chance when the Patriots face off against the Seattle Seahawks during Super Bowl LX on Sunday, Feb. 8.

Vrabel has been coaching in the NFL since 2014, and in 2019, he revealed just how desperately he wanted to win a ring while serving as a coach of the Tennessee Titans.

During an appearance on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast that year, he told hosts Taylor Lewan and Will Compton that he was so ready for a win that he’d be willing to cut off his penis.

“Been married 20 years. Yeah, probably,” he told them, jokingly adding, “You guys will be married for 20 years one day. You won’t need it.”

As he heads to the Super Bowl in his first year of coaching the Patriots, he was asked if he still felt the same way during a Tuesday, Feb. 3, interview on the same podcast. Now, he isn’t quite as willing to sacrifice his whole appendage.

“I mean, I’d probably cut it in half. Leave her six,” he joked, referring to his wife of more than 20 years, Jen Vrabel.

Lewan and Compton replied in an equally joking manner, providing Mike with a pair of scissors and a magnifying glass in case he needed to live up to his promise.

Mike and Jen met as students at Ohio State University in Columbus. They got married in 1999 and went on to welcome two children — sons Tyler and Carter.
