SAN FRANCISCO — Broncos rookie cornerback Jahdae Barron drew notice Wednesday when he posted a picture of himself on his Instagram story having undergone a surgical procedure, but according to a source with knowledge, the surgery was of a routine, clean-up nature and he should recover in plenty of time to be ready for team-organized offseason work beginning in April.

Barron played all 17 regular-season games and both playoff games in his first NFL season, a campaign that saw him participate in 30 percent of the Broncos’ defensive snaps as he worked on a rotational basis behind Pat Surtain II, Riley Moss and Ja’Quan McMillian.

The University of Texas product was the Broncos’ first-round pick last April, unexpectedly falling to the No. 20 slot in the NFL Draft.

“He played nickel, he played dime and he played a little corner. You can see all the traits,” general manager George Paton said last week.

“He was good for us, but probably not so good for him. He was drafted into maybe the deepest cornerback room in the league and he made his mark. He’s just going to keep growing and keep getting better.”
