The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could part ways with tight end Cade Otton in free agency this offseason, and one name makes too much sense.

“The Bucs … have an important decision with Cade Otton this offseason,” Ballentine wrote. “He has posted over 1,100 receiving yards over the last two seasons, but he’s set to hit free agency. Calling up the Vikings to see what the price for T.J. Hockenson could be an intriguing alternative.”

Hockenson still has plenty to offer after a 2025 season where he had 51 receptions for 438 yards and three touchdowns. One of his best seasons, 2023, isn’t that long ago when he had 95 receptions, 960 yards. and five touchdowns.

Hockenson does cost a bit though with a four-year, $66 million extension. That said, his pass catching and route running ability plus blocking ability would all be worth it for the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay hasn’t enjoyed a tight end of his caliber since the team had Rob Gronkowski, who retired after the 2021 season.
