After a standout senior day that led to Zach Wilson‘s draft stock rising, he has not lived up to the hype since then. That performance with his off-platform throws and athleticism led the New York Jets to draft him second overall, but he hasn’t looked anything like a player that should’ve been drafted that high.
*Prediction*
If in the right system, though, Zach Wilson could turn his career around much like Sam Darnold, or Daniel Jones. There is still there potential for Wilson, but that will be on a team where he can sit and develop the correct way.
One team that makes sense to sign Wilson and give him this opportunity is the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Los Angeles Chargers don’t need a starting quarterback, as they still have Justin Herbert slotted in there. What they do need to make a focus over the coming months whether in NFL free agency or the NFL Draft is getting a reliable backup.
Herbert’s backup from last season was Trey Lance, but with him set to hit free agency and try to seek a starting opportunity, the Chargers will have to look elsewhere. Their solution could just end up being Zach Wilson.
While Wilson has had his fair share of struggles throughout his career, he has shown he can make an impact in multiple ways to help lead a team.
One of Wilson’s most notable strengths is his exceptional rushing ability. His agility and speed allow him to evade defenders and extend plays when the pocket collapses. This ability to scramble not only keeps drives alive but also creates opportunities for big plays downfield. His dual-threat capability makes him a constant challenge for opposing defenses, as they must account for both his passing and running skills.
As a passer, Wilson isn’t always accurate, but he does possess impressive arm talent that enables him to make throws to all three levels. Whether it’s a deep throw down the sideline or an off-platform throw, Wilson has the capability to make unreal throws that can change the momentum of a game. His arm strength, combined with his keen field vision, allows him to succeed in a variety of situations.
Over his career, Wilson has thrown for 6,325 yards and 23 touchdowns. He has also rushed for 499 yards and five touchdowns. Signing with the Chargers would give him the chance to learn from Herbert, while also reuniting him with Mike McDaniel. Overall Los Angeles is a great situation for Wilson to land in.
