FARGO — There will be plenty of North Dakota State flavor with the Green Bay Packers next season. The club is reportedly hiring former Bison assistant Noah Pauley as its next wide receivers coach, which would reunite him with former NDSU receiver Christian Watson.

On the other side of the ball, Green Bay hired former Bison defensive back Bobby Babich as its secondary coach and defensive pass game coordinator last week.

Watson and Pauley were together for two NCAA Division I FCS titles in 2019 and 2021. Pauley moves to the NFL after a brief stint at Penn State, where he was hired when Matt Campbell left Iowa State for the Nittany Lions. Pauley was with Iowa State for three seasons. Watson rebounded from an ACL injury suffered last season and had 36 receptions for 647 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Babich was hired by new Green Bay after a coaching change in Buffalo, where Babich was the defensive coordinator for the Bills. A Fargo South graduate, he played for the Bison from 2002-05.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
