SAN FRANCISCO — From his time as a ballboy in his youth, Dan Rooney has been involved with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the son of president Art Rooney II has taken a bigger role in the team’s off-the-field affairs over the last few years in his role as vice president of business development and strategy.
That included the rousing success that was the Steelers’ trip to Dublin, Ireland to play the Minnesota Vikings at Croke Park, and also the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, which Pittsburgh will host for the first time in the modern era.
For the first time, the younger Rooney was also involved in the process as the Steelers made a transition at head coach this offseason, helping to hire new head coach Mike McCarthy.
