Salinas flag football star honored at NFL Latino Youth event for Super Bowl LX

Alissa Escutia, a flag football star from Salinas High School, was honored as an NFL Latino Youth Honors finalist at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, celebrating her achievements both on and off the field. Escutia’s impressive on-field performance includes 1,738 receiving yards, 200 rushing yards, 25 touchdowns, and a spot on the first team all offense in the PCAL Gabilan Division. Off the field, she maintains a 3.9 GPA and leads fundraising efforts for her church.”I knew she was going to do something great. This is just the beginning,” said her mother, Dorallynn Escutia. “I feel like she’s got the personality and she’s so humble and just an amazing person all-around, like I’m just so happy for her – I feel like she deserves this.”Escutia has been enjoying her time in San Francisco, participating in a private Super Bowl fan experience alongside other finalists. “I never thought I would be going on the red carpet but, it was nice, I got to meet so many great people like Jordan Love, Druski; it was great,” she said. “I just feel like I am making my younger self proud, my family, my culture, my community – it’s so great, it’s such a great opportunity to be here, and I am so blessed.”As she prepares to step into Levi’s Stadium on Super Bowl Sunday, Escutia reflects on the support from her hometown that has propelled her forward. “I feel like where I live, there’s a lot of community, there’s a lot of love, and I feel like that has made me the person that I am today,” she said. “Honestly, with all of that by my side and knowing that they have my back and I’m able to do the best that I can and anything I do is a huge honor.”When asked again about her Super Bowl pick, Escutia remains steadfast in her choice of the Seattle Seahawks.
