Should the Miami Dolphins move on from Tua Tagovailoa? NFL legend Dan Marino faced that question this week.
Tagovailoa was benched towards the end of the 2025 season due to his poor play. He finished the year with 2,660 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Although his run as their starter seems over, his contract isn’t exactly easy to move. If they were to cut him this offseason, they’d take on $99.2 million in dead cap.
While the two sides seem to be heading for a divorce, Marino made it clear that he has a lot of respect for Tagovailoa.
“Excellent guy, human being, and he’s still on the roster, so you just don’t know right now — the new staff is coming in and they’ve got to evaluate everything,” Marino said. “As time goes on, this will all play out. Right now, Tua’s with us, he’s one of our quarterbacks, and that’s the way it’s gonna be.”
